eat. sip. shop / cartems donuterie

August 8, 2013

cartems-eatsipshopCalling all donut lovers.. or anyone who really loves food done right! We’ve found the best donuts in the city. No, really. I would even go as far as saying they’re the best donuts I’ve had in North America. They’re that good. We made our way to Cartems Donuterie’s pop-up shop on the corner of Carrall & Hastings for this week’s series. Not exactly the most ideal location (it’s a little sketchy) but it’s alright during the day. It’s definitely a stop you’re going to want to make!

cartems-05cartems-07Cartems donuts are freshly handmade with quality, local ingredients. They even offer vegan & gluten-free options. We decided to go with the Canadian Whiskey Bacon & The Earl Grey. Both were incredibly delicious.

cartems-11cartems-06There’s nowhere to sit at this location so we walked further into Gastown to enjoy our yummy donuts. The Canadian Bacon was the perfect combination of sweet & savoury. Sooooo good. I enjoyed the Earl Grey just as much. Creamy & not overwhelmingly sweet. It was almost too pretty to eat!

cartems-03cartems-08cartems-01cartems-02I also love the story behind this shop. The owner had a dream to open a donut shop ten years go & here he is today makin’ the best donuts in North America!

Keep your eyes peeled in early September – these boys are opening up a new shop at 534 West Pender. It will seat 25 people. The space itself is going to be pretty minimalist overall, although they’re going to have a unique lighting installation which they’re really excited about. Along with the donuts, they’ll serve pour-over coffee from Matchstick Coffee Roasters, tea, and milk on tap. As in, they’re going to pull ice cold milk from beer taps! How awesome, right!? Can’t wait to see the new space!

xx
