I’m currently spending the week in Thunder Bay, Ontario with my boy. While he works away on a project, I have the time to read, write and watch inspirational videos – my mind & body are totally loving me for this one! It’s been a while since I’ve had “me” time. I encourage you to do the same sometime this week! Snuggle under the blankie with a blank notebook(doodle away!), take a warm bath, go for a long run – spend some time alone! You owe it to yourself.
Taking advantage of the down time, I stumbled on a tedtalk that everyone must watch! Brene Brown talks about the power of vulnerability. Absolutely beautiful. Those who know me understand that this topic really hits home as having the willingness to do something where there are no guarantees pretty much sums up my life. Living this way has given me the opportunity to meet the most interesting people and travel to foreign places with little to no money in my bank account. With society constantly pushing unrealistic expectations in our face it’s hard to have the courage to be imperfect. But it’s important that we embrace our imperfections. It’s what makes us unique & authentic.
An example of my most recent experience with vulnerability took place a few months back when I began to work in an investment firm. The first month on the job was spent being timid and pessimistic about my future with this company. Going to work and not having anyone to converse with was not okay. Making friends is what i looove to do. As soon as I began to branch out and expose my silliness & colourful personality, work changed. Colleagues began to exchange stories (and treats!) with me. Their stories have given me a whole new perspective on corporate America. Never in a million years did I think I would enjoy working in an investment firm. And no, it’s not my dream job or even close to it, but it has introduced me to a handful of wonderful friends who enjoy my easy going personality in a rather uptight setting. Who would have thought?
Let’s make a promise to work on embracing vulnerability, yeah?
PS: I’d love to hear your stories, too!
xx

Hi Angie,
I love what you’re doing here. I remember you talking about coming up with a blog a couple months ago and not just any blog but a blog that is inspirational, loving and most of all being yourself through your stories. You always have a way to turn things around, see things from a different perspective, put a twist to it – always an inspiration to me. Sometimes I think “what would angie do?”
I love you and will keep looking forward to all the insane wonderful things you’ll be blogging here.
Cheers!
